The Lichtenbusch Equine Practice is located in the village of Lichtenbusch on the German-Belgian border, just outside Aachen. It was established in 1990 by Dr Friedrich-Wilhelm Hanbücken as a mobile equine veterinary practice for customers in the region. It moved into the new clinic premises in 1993. Dr A. Kersten joined the practice as partner in 1997.

In 2001 the large extension with stalls and riding hall opened. At the end of September 2015, after 20 years at the practice, Dr Kersten left for personal reasons. Dr Hanbücken has continued to run the practice alone. In February 2020 Krebs von Plato Beteiligungs-GbR acquired ownership of the practice. Dr Hanbücken and his team continue to run it. Dr Krebs, Dr von Plato and Dr Hanbücken share the objectives of maintaining a high standard of veterinary care for horses in the Rhineland region and gradually extending the practice’s portfolio of veterinary services.
